Some of the contributing factors in this designation is OU's participation in the 'Service members Opportunity College Consortium', 'Principles of Excellence Program', specific policies established to allow students to attend VA appointments without penalty, and creation of veteran delegates on the Student Senate bodies.

The Veteran Learning Community (VLC) concept was created to help our first year student veterans succeed in the college environment. The VLC allows our first year veterans an opportunity to have shared course schedules and provides a support network as you assimilate into college life.
